kids are smart

Isabel was doing some things in her coloring/activity book today and asked for me to read some directions for her. We were watching my nephew Cael and he was interested in the book and came over to help. Well, we were supposed to decide which animal didn't belong in the sequence: sheep, dog, cat, fish. The next sequence was: chick, dog, owl, duck.

Which animals do you think don't belong? Well, my first thought was that a dog, cat and fish are common pets and sheep are not. Cael had a different idea. He said that three are land animals and the fish lives in water. I thought his answer was better than mine. On the second group I thought for sure I have the best answer: a dog doesn't have wings like the chick, owl and duck. Well, can anyone guess what Cael thought didn't belong? It was the Owl because it's nocturnal. Yep. Can you believe that. I thought it was very perceptive. Ha ha ha. It's fun to have 4 year olds open your mind.

first kindergarten field trip

Ansel and I got to go with Isabel and her kindergarten class on their first field trip to the zoo. It was a lot of fun and they kids did a great job walking all morning. Isabel's partner was Nayeli and we had a great trip. Their favorite things were the giraffes, gorillas, elephants, and the hippo.
